trap skiff

trap skiff
a vessel used from the beginning of the eighteenth century to the early 1900s, easily rowed, with a single sail, good carrying capacity, light and cheap to build. Its name came from its main use in setting and tending inshore fish traps and nets. Gradually replaced by the dory which could be stacked one inside the other on offshore schooners
